Level I Certified Infrared Thermographer® is a five-day course in the application of qualitative thermal imaging for preventive and predictive maintenance, condition assessment, condition monitoring, quality assurance, forensic investigations and building sciences. It covers infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, equipment operation and selection, standards compliance, image analysis and report generation. Students are trained to identify and document thermal patterns caused by improper design, workmanship or material failure — across electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems, steam systems, refractory systems, underground piping, active thermography, tanks, storage and building envelopes.
The Thermography Level 1 examination is an open-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions. Certification is issued to students scoring 80% or higher.
Yes. The course is eligible for 35 NETA Continuing Technical Development Credits, is approved by the InterNational Association of Certified Home Inspectors for 32 hours of continuing education, and is approved for 32 Continuing Education Hours by the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants. Infraspection Institute is recognised by SMRP as an approved provider of continuing education and training in subject areas related to reliability and physical asset management.
